Re-Assembly of Geartrain -
After or during re-assembly of the subcomponents we like to stack the entire geartrain. We use a fixture on the bench made from an old rear yoke. You can also use a hole cut in the bench or otherwise.
We start with our output shaft. It has been machined for use with a slip yoke for more spline engagement.
Next we install the ring gear to output torrington bearing, lip down into the recessed area of the output shaft.
Then we install the ring gear to sun gear bearing in the rear ring gear.
Next,
the rear ring gear and intermediate shaft assembly sets on the output shaft.
Next we can install the output or rear planetary carrier.
Drop the 4 tang thrust washer in place on the rear carrier, install the sun gear beveled side down, and you are ready for the front planetary.
Now set the drive tube in place.
Now the front planet can be installed. Install the low roller clutch in the front planet (reaction carrier).
Next the completed center support can be installed.
Be sure the thrust washer on the rear of the center support is installed.
It will require slight rotation to drop the center support into the low roller clutch.
