That is because it's the wrong unit to use in a big power application. We're not here to mislead you. We could build and sell a very well built 4L60E that would compete with anybody's on the market. There is more demand for this unit, so business wise, it makes sense to pursue that market but we don't.
We specialize in 4L80Es because we KNOW it is the only real option for REAL power with reliability.
Other builders are afraid to cut into their sales and tell you this. We're not. We just want to be sure you get the strongest option available at the best price the first time.

The new Jake's Performance 4L80E transbrake is here! We have designed an all new transbrake for the 4L80E. It does NOT require a deep pan like our competitor's unit. It can be setup as automatic with computer controlled or can be built as a full manual setup where no controller is required.
This is a very fast releasing transbrake. Current data indicates approximately .060 seconds and it will be faster on a purpose built transmission.
We recommend a billet input shaft and forward hub with the transbrake but it isn't mandatory.
Pricing for the transbrake will be $600 as a valve body assembly outright. $550 if you send us your VB or a suitable core. The transbrake valve body with a transmission build is $400 additional.
The transbrake kit will include a rebuilt valve body new shift solenoids, new seperator plate, gaskets, transbrake specific components, pressure regulator boost valve, springs, and directions. It will require internal modifications for best results.

The 4L80E is the descendant of the "Ole Reliable" TH400 transmission. It shares many components and design features. At Jake's Performance the 4L80E is our most popular transmission. We have built them for applications ranging from heavy towing vehicles to 1000+ HP street/strip cars.
The 4L80E has proven reliable like it's predecessor.
Most of our development time is spent on the 4L80E. Look for some innovative new products in the near future that should make the 4L80E even stronger.
We specialize in building the 4L80E for retrofit applications. If you have a 500+ HP musclecar, late model LSx powered car, or other combo that demands THE bulletproof trans, we can build it for you.
The Street/Strip (Stage II) 4L80E includes all new friction materials, steels, bands, rollerized forward hub, rollerized output shaft thrust, heavy duty intermediate snap ring, 6 clutch direct pack, Hi-Energy carbon clutches in select locations, hydraulic modifications for much increased power capacity and firmer shifting.
The lowest level 4L80E we sell is reliable and warranteed at 750 HP.

Stage III 4L80E includes a billet input shaft, billet rollerized forward hub, and billet intermediate shaft. This makes it reliable to 1000 HP/TQ.
Stage 4 4L80E build is the Stage III build but adds a 36 element sprag Super Drum for increased power capacity up to 1250 HP/TQ.
All 4L80Es also include a new boost valve assembly, new shift solenoids, manifold pressure switch, internal wiring, as applicable.
Mechanical speedometer tailhousing kits are available for $500 additional. Please add to cart with transmission purchase if desired. These include the tailhousing with new bushing, seal, o-ring, speedometer gears calibrated for your combo, and driven speedo housing.
Electronic Controllers are available with your transmission for retrofit applications to use automatic function.
We use and sell the Baumann Shiftware TCS controller.
It has proven to be an excellent controller at a reasonable cost of $550 with the harness.

Upgrades are available for applications over 750 HP/TQ including 4340 or 300M input shaft, billet forward hub, 4340 mainshaft, 36 element "Super Drum", aluminum drums, different gearsets (2.10 or 2.75 ratio).
