The new Jake's Performance 4L80E transbrake is here! We have designed an all new transbrake for the 4L80E. It does NOT require a deep pan like our competitor's unit. It can be setup as automatic with computer controlled or can be built as a full manual setup where no controller is required.
At this time the transbrake is only available with a transmission build. Prices are $500 additional for automatic function, $600 additional for full manual.
This is a very fast releasing transbrake. Current data indicates approximately .060 seconds and it will be faster on a purpose built transmission.

We recommend a billet input shaft and forward hub with the transbrake but it isn't required.

The first 5 orders will receive an additional $100 off a transbrake 4L80E package.

We will sponsor a free transbrake and transmission build labor (customer pays cost of core and parts) for any customer who will install the unit in a 8.99 or faster ET quarter mile. Call for details.



The 4L80E is the descendant of the "Ole Reliable" TH400 transmission. It shares many components and design features. At Jake's Performance the 4L80E is our most popular transmission. We have built them for applications ranging from heavy towing vehicles to 1000+ HP street/strip cars.
The 4L80E has proven reliable like it's predecessor.
Most of our development time is spent on the 4L80E. Look for some innovative new products in the near future that should make the 4L80E even stronger.

The "Package Deal" is as follows:
Stage II 4L80E using an early core (our preferred retrofit unit).
9.5" custom built lockup converter. Billet converters available for 750+ HP cars, call in for pricing.
Mechanical speedometer housing setup with the proper speedo gears for your car.
Shipping to the nearest freight terminal or business with loading dock/forklift included (payment for shipping can be made at the time the trans is ready to ship, or deduct $150 for local pickup).

We will add any custom upgrades such as later model core, billet components, etc to this price if you need a 4L80E for big power.



The Street/Strip (Stage II) 4L80E includes all new friction materials, steels, bands, rollerized forward hub, rollerized output shaft thrust, heavy duty intermediate snap ring, 6 clutch direct pack,  Hi-Energy carbon clutches in select locations, hydraulic modifications for much increased power capacity and firmer shifting.
The lowest level 4L80E we sell is reliable and warranteed at 750 HP.

Stage III 4L80E includes a billet input shaft, billet rollerized forward hub,  and billet intermediate shaft.  This makes it reliable to 1000 HP/TQ.

Stage 4 4L80E build is the Stage III build but adds a 36 element sprag Super Drum for increased power capacity up to 1250 HP/TQ.

All 4L80Es also include a new boost valve assembly, new shift solenoids, manifold pressure switch, internal wiring, as applicable.

Mechanical speedometer tailhousings are available for $500 additional. Please add to cart with transmission purchase if desired.


There are other less expensive options for the speedometer hookup depending on your needs. Call or email us to discuss them.

Electronic Controllers are available with your transmission for retrofit applications to use automatic function. There are several good choices available on the market. We can get any of them for you with your transmission purchase or send you directly to the manufacturer.
The one we sell the most of is the Baumann Shiftware TCS controller.
It has proven to be an effective controller at reasonable cost.

Upgrades are available for applications over 750 HP/TQ including 4340 or 300M input shaft, billet forward hub, 4340 mainshaft, 36 element "Super Drum",  aluminum drums,  different gearsets (2.10 or 2.75 ratio).
